I am new to underwater photography but would like to take advantage of my Canon 5D and the opportunities here in Hawaii. Any advice on a housing/strobe/lens at a reasonable price?
Thanks

I use an Ikelite Housing for my 5d and started with an old ikelite ss150 strobe on manual. Probably the most affordable system you can buy. You can get a fixed wide angle lens with a 6" ikelite dome port. I use a ss200 and a 16-35 in an 8" dome port now.
Thanks, it looks like a canon 16mm and the 6" port will work. Trying to minimize costs are the ds 51 strobes ok or do you need stronger light?

Hey Marc, I shoot a 20D and just recently baught an Ike housing and two Sea and Sea YS-250's for it. I also baught the 10-20mm Sigma zoom super wide angle lens. That wont work on the 5D but from what I hear from some of the full frame shooters, they really like the 15mm fisheye or 14mm super wide. The 14mm is pretty pricey but who ever said this was a cheap hobby. Also depends on what you want to shoot, wide angle or macro. Im sure someone will be able to sugegst some nice lenses for a 5D. As far as housings go, I can't say much since im a newbie, but im pretty happy with the Ikelite housing i just got. Not sure how much help this was but i just wanted to say hey too, I live in HAwaii as well. Im in town on Oahu. Where are u from?

No they don't. If you want TTL you will have to go with Ike strobes and an Ike housing. or Sea and Sea housing with Sea and Sea strobes and the ttl converter. Or a different set up for that matter. But from what I undersatnd the stroebs and housing need to be from the same manufacturer. That was my concern too. I wasn't sure if i wanted to have to shoot manual all the time, but I decided to go ahead with it, after reading a lot of posts on here where people way they can use TTL with their set up but it seemed like a lot of them preffered manual. You will most likely miss that quick shot having to shoot manual, which is the biggest draw back, but it seems like TTL can be inaccurate sometimes. There was a poll a few days ago asking what people used, TTL or Manualflash and last tim ei checked the majority preffered Manual. But it is all preference. Good luck.
