Actually I've been interested in video lately and this newly re-mastered DVD of Nosferatu is just AMAZING!!!

It was just "world-premiered" at the historic Tampa Theatre; an historic movie palace from 1926 complete with stars in a rotating ceiling and a mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.

A 105 (no lie!!) year old lady Rosa Rio played organ accompaniment to this newly re-mastered copy and if that wasn't incredible enough I was really impressed by this clean copy of this fantastic movie and the artful effects from 1922. It is just amazing what they did, filming on location, shadows, sailboat in motion and the super-artful vingetting throughout the movie.

I encourage anyone who is interested in this movie to get a copy of the brand - newly re-mastered DVD, it is very well done. The same people also just re-mastered Potemkin. Copies should be released any day now.

You won't hear Rosa Rio playing (you have to come to Tampa for that...!) but it is an incredible copy of Nosferatu and a great lesson in early video effects and creating drama simply.

Best, Carol PS oh, above is a flyer from the movie and below a pic of Rosa at the Wurlitzer at Tampa Theatre..... (Yes, FYI it is so windy/gusty now all over Florida we have to find something to do besides diving - looks like it will be that way all week, drat! Be glad at least DEMA is indoors and it will be actually be comfortable as it is gusty warm, fairly dry north-easterly winds.)
