After the three days of competition in El Hierro we finally made to the second place which is just great for us!
Friend Arturo Telle won and the most interesting pics will be in www.openfotosub.com
These are the eight pictures Luisa and I entered:
Picture number 3 also got the prize "Fito Herzog" to the most representative uw picture of El Hierro
Congratulations on the win David, those are all great images!
Hi David & Luisa,
Congratulations with the prices and a set of very nice shots. Apart from the good looks of all images I was particularly interested in the filefish in shot four. Last January I shot a highly underexposed scrawled filefish in Bonaire. Heavy image manipulation revealed a spotted pattern very similar to yours, which is normally hidden below the olive base colour. Is the spotted pattern on your picture the normal coloration? and is it a scrawled filefish or is it considered to be a different species?
If Luiz or one of the other fish wizards is reading this, does the Caribbean scrawled filefish ever show its hidden spotted pattern during mating or some other event?
Here is a normal color scrawled filefish
Here is the manipulated color image
Thanks for any info!
Bart
Many congratulations, David and Luisa. Lovely images. Good to see the Motor-Marine playing a starring role!
Wow you and Arturo are really cleaning up at the moment. Particular congratulations to Arturo - winning again and with the handicap of shooting that Canon! Only joking.
Alex
Congrats, great images, as the judges I also like the third one a lot.
Thank you very much Luiz, Bart, Alex and Arnon!!
Bart: The blue-over-olive pattern is the usual pattern of this filefish species (at least around here)...
Alex: I knew you were going to like seeing the Motor Marine! . I will transmit your congratulations to Arturo....and, of course, the canon thoughts!!
Well done guys,
Love that shot of 'El Bajon' brings back fond memories of diving that part of the World.
