Seal Check by Gates

  1. Although now still only available to Gates owners, this might be interesting:

Seal Check provides a fast and easy verification of housing integrity before entering the water.

How it works and what it is, I don't know :guiness: But it would be great to have one that works for my housing ;)

Depending on what kind of system/device it is, there might be a very small chance that it is also configurable with dslr housings (because the device has to be very, very small also).

And in case Gates doesn't own a patent, I hope there will be some company in Asia that starts producing them for us soon :ninja:

    Cheers

  2. My guess is that it is an air pressurization tool since they have to add a fitting. If it comes with its own Pelican case its just what I need, not enough stuff already.

  3. It could be like the Subalert, which put a slight vacuum on a housing or Nikonos. If the vacuum went down (one had to do this a bit before entering the water), it was an indication of a potential leak. The vacuum also 'pre-loaded' the o-rings. Worked well with my RS system but one had to arrange for an air source (spare scuba tank) to run the vacuum pump.

  4. Could a silmilar system be implemented through a flash port?

Would there be enough airflow in a normal N5 port?

You would just need an adaptor to fit the N5 port. Of course you would not be testing the integrity of the flash port you would be test through.

The only way I have flooded a camera has been through an N5 port so maybe this would not be a good idea/
