  1. Hi all, I just put a gallery online with images of our latest solomon islands trip. Still have to edit captions :)

Beautiful stuff as always. Sorry I had to miss the trip. Hope to see you and Julie for the Shearwater Oceanic Whitetips trip in May.

  4. Ditto what Doug said......beautiful stuff. I specially liked the narrow DOF stuff. I'd love to see COR_20070918_23618.jpg and COR_20070917_23469.jpg in a larger version. It's interesting that you used a large aperture with a fast shutter speed.

  5. Well, here's the goby. This is a shrimp goby, and the depth of field is intentional, I knew I was going to shoot this before I went into the water. I have plenty of images of shrimp gobies in all shapes and forms, even with nudibranchs attached to them, but this time I wanted a different angle. So I tried a very small depth of field, fast shutter speed to get something that at least resembles sharpness, and my strobes on the lowest setting. I thought it makes what is usually a bit of a boring (although interesting for behavior) image somewhat nicer. Hope this is large enough, smugmug doesnt do anything larger and allow a watermark still :)

ps: this image is as-is. Not cropped, unedited except for color balance and sharpening. Taken with a 105mm + 1.4 TC.

  8. Really nice stuff, Cor.

I like the pink background on the whip coral shrimp. Cool.

  9. A great collection of images - I couldn't pick a favourite!

Reminded me of my trips to the Solomons, you've captured a real sense of place, which is really cool :P
