Atomic Frameless Mask with prescription

4 posts
  1. Last week at DEMA I was at the booth of the company from San Diego that fits prescriptions into masks.

Presently I use a Seavision bifocal mask which comes prescription from the manufacturer. I really like the Atomic Frameless, but I'm not certain that adding a prescription will be a good idea, because of course they increase the thickness of the lenses by gluing on the bifocals. I guess this could be beneficial as it would decrease the mask volume even further; though I'm not sure if it would change the clarity / visibility of the mask.

    Anyone have any input?

If you are talking about Prescription Dive Masks, they are great, say hello to Linda for me if you order

  3. Jeff,

Not sure if you noticed my Atomic SubFrame (two window style) Rx masks I had on our shark trip. One has "bonded" lenses and the other the whole separate lens is ground to my Rx. (Called "Pop-In" lenses)

I have near sighted corrective lenses plus small bi-focal areas in each and they work great enabling me to see my camera setting icons, SPG, etc.

The one they glued in the largest possible lenses is actually a bit shallower than the complete lenses ground in my second one. For a single window mask like the Atomic Frameless mask they would make separate lenses as large as possible and "bond" them in.

I've had numerous onded lens masks over the years, and none have EVER come part even after years in salt water and hot tropical sun.

Email me for my dive mask optician information.

That's me on the right with Deano. Can't hardly tell I have an Rx mask on!

    Hello...

I use the Atomic mask with prescription lenses that I purchased from Prescription Dive Masks in San Diego. I couldn't be happier. I used those stick on magnifiers for years and thought that I could see.....what a difference the prescription makes! I could even see those pigmy sea horses in Lembeh that were only a little blur before. The service given by Prescription Dive Masks was great. You won't be disappointed.
