correct filter for shooting in fresh water?? Advice Please

4 posts
  1. I am planning a trip to the Cenote's in Jan. Will be shooting video. Can anyone offer advice on color correction in this fresh water? Is the green water filter proper for these clear and semi shallow dives down to 40'-50'? I would expect to be back from the entrance shooting into the natural light a majority of the time.

  2. Green is usually the color of algae fresh water around rivers and such. However at Cenotes, the water is so clear, I wouldn't bother with a filter and just MWB... especially for a high contrast shot.

The rest of the time you'll be using lights anyhow so it won't really matter.

  3. Shooting in clear fresh water in sunlight at a depth of 40-50', you will definitely want to use a "blue water" CC Filter such as a URPro CY filter, and MWB. If you have a cc flip filter, then you have the option to shoot eather way, but the "green water" filter will be wrong for clear water.

Thanks for the info. At least I'm heading down the right track.
