Small Red Fish ID

  1. Took this fish shot, Grand Cayman, about 1 inch long, day time and not seen another since, could not find it in a book and was wondering if anyone knows it's name? Thanks

  2. Looks like a clingfish, but it doesn't match the Red Clingfish in Humann's book.

    Cheers,

    Marli

  3. I have a few cling fish but this is not one, oh well may be some one will know.

  4. It does look like a Clingfish of the genus Tomicodon, but probably an undescribed species, certainly nothing that I ever saw before. Do you have any other picture showing the dorsal?

  5. Thanks Luiz, but I only got that one, it was a quick catch.

  6. It is a very nice shot. If it is a Tomicodon it is probably a new species. The only other option would be some goby, but I've never seen one like that. So, if you see it again, try to get a "fish ID" shot and maybe someone will name it after you :)
