Fog In My Housing

5 posts
  1. I'm having trouble with fog in my housing (Canon DC800 for a Canon IXUS 400 digital point-and-shoot). I start out with a perfectly clean and dry housing but on occasion I get a fogged up lense. Any tricks to work through this?

  2. Hi Nathanc 78

I had the same problem in my original Canon housing that I had before.

    I resolved ...

    doing it in this way:

remove the six screw in the front of the port.Be careful because(probably) there are two lens inside,so you have to mark which one stay in the first position. Then when removed both,go to clean well both side of the lens with a cleaner solution(I used alcool !! ) and after, when are dry ,assemble again the port (be careful to keep clean also the side of lens because there are no o-ring...only a side to put in).

Then, for first time ,dive WITHOUT the camera inside the housing.

hoping that this can help you...

    bye from Italy

  3. yes, you must keep 1 or 2 desiccants in your housing... don't worry, everyone learns this lesson after their housing fogs up

  4. I close the housing in the least humid area I can, usually at home before going near the water with the camera. When I seal the housing, I add a silica gel pack in the housing. Then try to keep the camera out of sulight as much as possible. When on the surface, I keep my housed camera inside a camera bag to avoid the sunlight.
