Newbie to strobes looking for advice

  1. Hi

Sorry if this q has been asked a million times but.....

I have a cannon ixus900ti dig compact and dive mostly in the uk - atlantic / north seas.

I want a fairly compact setup as I do alot of wreck but am suffering with lighting / shadow cast of lense port on cameras built in flash - for strobe I was looking at sea and sea ys 110 or the inon z240

A targeting light would be useful which I think the Inon has. I would be using a slave flash with optical cable - or alternatively would use a ttl flash with the weikampf widget http://www.heinrichsweikamp.net/blitz/index.htm?start_e.htm

Any opinions and suggested setup would be much appreciated as I am slightly confused with the array of options and what would work best in low light conditions - please bear in mind I have a limited budget - say £400 (or am I dreaming!!)

    regards BluDL

  2. The s&s ys110 has issues when attempting to use it in slave TTL mode.

The inons seem to have reliable optical TTL going.

I am using an Ikelite ds-51 with the heinrichs DA2, and it is working great.
