  1. Just wondering what people are using. I have both the Sony wide with no filter thread so needs a matte box or the Century Optics but no reference to the size of the filter thread diameter.....ideas?

  2. Which WA lens Mark? There are a few.

  3. Sorry Mate,

I have the Century / Schneider 0VS-07CV-HDS .7x Wide Angle Converter Lens and also the Sony VCL-HG0872

I have seen that the Century has a filter thread at the wide end of 102mm so am looking for a filter to fit that. The SOny has no filter thread whatsoever, great design! Then of course if I fit a filter to the Century Lens it will not allow me to fit the Century Precision Optics VS-SS05-00 sun shade. In order to have a polarizer filter working that is accessible whilst using any of these wide angle lenses means that I need to buy a Matte Box. Not really the option I want to take seeing as I plan selling all my gear as soon as possible. One more shoot and hopefully thats it.

    Any ideas?

    Best,

    Mark.

  4. I have a Hoya polariser for my regular lens. Maybe they go up to 102mm.

Maybe the Sony doesn't provide the thread because they expect a filter screwed to it would cause vignetting.

If you ended up having to buy a matte box, I thought the Matteblox was pretty cool and good value when I did some research into them. Not sure what cameras they fit though.

  5. Can't use a wide lens with those Nick. Thanks anyway for the input.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

  6. Mark,

I just did a week of shooting with a Century Optics .6x. I was pretty happy with the results. Seems like Century does a pretty good job most of the time.

  7. shawnh, did you have any form of matte box or ? Did you get any issues with Lens Flares? I have never used the Century thus far due to the lack of sun shade options. I was looking to find something but with costs hovering around $1500 and with me selling the gear after this shoot its just not worth it I think.

    Cheers again for the feedback.
