Fuji F50 SEA&SEA YS27 syncn problem

5 posts
  1. I am totally baffled. I just purchased the Inon conversion lens adapter with their fiber optic

attachment for my strobe's optic cable. I got everything all put together and adapter mounted on the Fuji housing. My problem is that I can not sync the strobe flash with the camera. I have tried both settings on the strobe for pre-flash and non pre-flash cameras, I have changed the camera flash from forced to red eye

to slow red eye, all to no avail. The strobe seems to always fire about a second to late. Am I missing something? Are there some strobes less compatible with some cameras , and might this be one of those.

As you can see, I am new to all of this and any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Jay,

It is certainly possible that the strobe is not capable of keeping up with the preflashes from the F50. You should ask Sea and Sea. Since this is a pretty new camera (and by all respects a very good one) the strobe manufacturers may not have looked at it yet.

  3. I have an F30 with a YS110 and the synch works for me no problem.

I can use either Manual 1 or TTL setting on strobe. I just set the Fuji to Forced Flash.

I also have the Inon adaptor but i use a Fiber Optic cable from Sea and Sea and tape it directly over the onboard flash of the Fuji.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Hope you get it to work! Looking forward to your pictures.

  4. mike,

How do you like the F30. DO you have any photos on the web?

I am thinking about buying a F30 as a back up for my other P&S set up. Had a bad experience in lembeh in Oct , broke my camera on 1st day so could not take any photos.

i can get the F30& housing for about $450.

  5. I like it for the most part. I think it takes pretty good pictures, at least in capable hands... :)

I just got the Inon adaptor and wide angle lens, and strobe, and that makes a huge difference. But, still not DSLR...

here are some shots with the strobe: http://picasaweb.google.com/mshohman/200711Similans

    and some without: http://picasaweb.google.com/mshohman/200611Similans

Have had inconsistent results with the TTL. Generally works except in tight macro.

I am still a beginner, so....

Anyway, I think the F30 would make a great backup.
