While looking at the Athena Optical website lately, I noticed they sell a new S&S port for the Canon 100mm Macro and Nikon 105VR that have 67mm threads on the end, allowing screw on close-up lenses such as the famed Inon UCL 165 double element close-up lens.
The Woody provides approx a +20% magnification. What is the magnification factor on the Inon closeup lens? Edit: think I might have found the answer. Is the Inon 165 equivalent to a 2x and the Inon 330 1.3x?
yes it's x2. my INON ports also have a m67 skrew and i use the ucl 165 frequently. i am very happy with it in supermacro ...
thanks Serge.
Do you use that 165 with a Canon 100mm macro?
i use it with the:
- ef-s 60mm macro (working distance quite short there, but easy for small nudies, flatworms etc).
-100mm macro (very easy to use)
-100mm macro + 1,5 kenko teleconverter (little bit tricky but nice magnification)
this pic is taken with 100mm + 1,5 tele + ucl 165 ...
Thanks Serge. Hmm... maybe I should give my 1.4x TC a try. What is the min focus length with the TC on (without the Inon 165 on)?
the minimal focus distance does not change with a tc ... so it is the same as with only the 100mm. but as it is measured from the chip it is actually a little bit closer to the port, than without the tc, because the port with the tc is a bit longer.
Image one, Olympus 50 mm macro with 2 X tele converter (200 mm 35 equv.) fully extended e.g. 2:1.
Second image same equipment, fully extended 2:1 with the Inon M-67 165 C/U lens on an Inon macro port which like the Athena port also has the 67 mm threads.
