2 Flash ports are they worth?

5 posts
  1. Hi ,

    I am ordering a housing for a D80.

I am thinking about to add a 2nd port for strobe on the housing the price are

    145 Eur for a ttl

56 Eur for a non ttl.

I have the digital adapter from Heinrich I think I can replace the extra port with it but only in manual cos my flash isn't compatible for ttl.

Do you think it will be useful in the future work with 2 ttl flash or 1 ttl with slave will be enough?

So bottom line 1 or 2 strobo exit?

    Thank you all

    Andrea

  2. Don't forget dual cords too! If you have two ports and use a single cord from each port to shoot two flashes, then you flood one of the ports, you can use a dual cord on the remaining working port.

That has saved my butt before on a trip.

  3. I agree with James. Redundancy is the name of the game, dual port gives you that, a single port that goes out of commision and your out of light. That extra connector is worth the money, also slave triggering has not been good to me in W.A. situation, you can't beat cabled connections.

You should mention what strobes you are using (or planning to use), might be other plans such as Optical Fiber etc.

  4. Make that three votes for two strobe connections. Its well worth the money. Not only does it give you more lighting options, but as the lads say, an alternative too if you flood one one the connectors.

  5. Thank you very much , I'll go for the 2 ports option.

    Happy holiday :-)
