The good news is that Ikelite already have the D-300 housing in production, the bad news is that they don’t change a thing over the D-200 housing, (except for buttons position), so I guess we should wait for future camera models to be released and hope Ikelite change their design adding some of the stuff had been discussed on this forum...
On the other hand I´m still waiting to see the new flat port system they are making...
It can´t be so hard to put an 1" ball on top for focus light... I guess I going to have to glue it to it!
I tried glueing an Ultralight ball adapter to the top of my Ikelite 20D housing with epoxy, but it came off.
Sea and Sea makes a "cold shoe" mount that screws onto the housing with 4 small screws. I bet you could mount one into the Ikelite housing top with minimal risk, but I'd ask them first.
Cheers
James
Don't fret about this. The Ultralight ball neck adapter is the way tro go for adding a focus light. Its really a great solution and it doesn't interfere with the housing.
I told you their housing would be the same as always But its not a bad thing. Their housings work great. Let the other guys design a new housing for each camera. Ikelite's approach is the right one for he digital age where every camera is different and a new one comes out every year. This way they keep their costs down, can handle most cameras and are first ones out with a housing.
Enhanced viewfinders are great, and I have seen some aftermarket versions for Ikelite but they cost as much as the housing itself--so It doesn't make sense for most of us.
The flat port is fantastic! I can't wait to get one of my own.
