Four New Manatee Posts

3 posts
  1. OK, I got very industrious and just did four new manatee posts. Only thing is it took so much time and it is so late that I won't copy and post the full text and pics here. Please click on the links below to my site, there are lots of new photos.

I still have lots of photos to get to. It has been very productive so far this year but now it has gotten so warm (downright hot) that I don't think I'll even go this coming week. Funny, complaining about 83 degree days and 65 degree nights - but that's not good for manatee observation and photography.

Here are the links and I'll post a couple of teaser pics below, Best, Carol

  2. As usual you really make me want to go back soon. This might be the first year I've missed in the last 3.

  3. Hope you can make it this year Gary.

But it is going to be a tough manatee season if the weather doesn't cool down. There is a La Nina in the Pacific and what that means for Florida is a warmer and drier Winter. So if it plays out it will be warmer (like it has been) and the water levels are somewhat lower because of the drought. Not the best conditions for sure.

On the bright side when we do get short, little cold fronts now they aren't as strong so don't stir up the water so badly and affect the viz as much. So if you can hit it right things can come together nicely!

Thanks, a lot of people ask me about Crystal River (even non-photographers) so I've tried to post informative data along with my pics although I'll have just a gallery of my best recent manatee pics up too - but not till after the holidays.

    Take Care, Carol
