Fujifilm Finepix F50fd recommendation?

Hi - has anyone used the Fujifilm F50fd? I am new to underwater photography, and considering this camera as my first underwater setup. I use a film SLR above water quite alot and am used to using manual controls. It seems that the F50fd allows some options when it comes to apeture and shutter speed.

Any comments/suggestions would be great!
