  1. Ogasawara archipelago - Japan's most distant point and can be reached only by 30 hours boat trip from Tokyo. Curiosly enough it administratively belongs to Tokyo prefecture - addresses start from "Tokyo-to, Ogasawara-Mura". It features very beautiful sea with great visibility and interestining marine life. It is famous for humpback whale migration during spring months, however this year I was not lucky enough to capture them underwater. Enjoy few shots from this interestining place:

  2. i was at a whale watching conference in hervey bay here in australia in 1994 and some representatives from the Ogasawara whale watching industry gave a presentation. ever since then it has been one of those places i have wanted to visit. funny, none of the Japanese I have met seem to know about it. thanks for sharing your photos.

  3. Thanks for sharing. Your images are top-notch, I really liked the lobster with the two white-tips in the background. The diving looks interesting and is certainly an area that I have heard very little about.

  4. I agree very interesting, great collection! I love to see photos from unusual places and of interesting sealife. Those lobsters are gorgeous!!!

    Thanks Carol

  5. Ogasawara is an awesome place. Nice pic of minamijima.

Which ops did you use for the whalewatching?

Did you also go for the spermies this last fall?

  6. I love the school of rays with the clouds above
