Nexus and 12-24 lens

4 posts
  1. I have just invested in a a 12-24 mm nikon for my D200. I am mounting it in my Nexus housing with the 160 domeport and 40 mm extension.

Is there anybody that has any experience with this setup? will i need a diopter for this?

    thx

  2. I use the 12-24 with my Nexus D70 with the FP170 port, 40mm ext ring & +4 diopter. This setup gives sharp edges which most others don't. Did some tests & calculations with the FP160 port which indicated it should use a 60mm ext ring. Had trouble getting sharp edges with the 160 port, but didn't experiment much with diopters. Edges looked a little better with the 170/40mm setup (also without diopter). The lens should focus ok without diopter but you need one to sharpen the borders. If you have diopters, try different setups in a big tub of water. Only the port needs to get wet. Use a subject with lots of small detail in the corners - something flat with bar codes or text. Your D200 should behave very similar to my D70 in this regard.

  3. Thank you. I only have the 160 port so far. its the same Im using on the 10,5 and the tokina 10-17. I dont have any diopers so far, but im going to buy some soon if its necessary for sharp edges. I m going to test the lens in maldives in 2 weeks. 160 and 40 mm extension was what i was recomended from yuzo in japan. Anybody else that have some advice on what dioper i should buy for my setup?
