It seems that that the camera of choice to most here is the G9.
I've been considering the Canon 870IS with the Canon OEM housing. Does anyone have experience with this camera? I like it for the wider lens 28mm - 105 as opposed to 35mm for the G9.
Thanks in advance.

Larry,
I'm no pro, but I have a G9 and an SD 850 ... I debated building my setup around the SD 850 for that reason ... but in the end I bought the Canon housing for the G9.
I don't regret it. I'm on my first trip with it now ... see my blog for some pics ...

There is a third party adapter I've seen that allows 67MM attachments to the Canon G9 housing ...

... haven't bought it, but I think I will.
Here are the big advantages as I see it:
>>> RAW capability - HUGE now that I am doing it
>>> Two custom white balance settings - I set one for strobes and one for ambient - I like
>>> Very, very nice 1024x768 15fps video ... looks spectacular with a "magic filter"
>>> Focus bracketing - very handy for macro underwater I find
I would recommend you go with the G9 without any reservations. It is my favorite camera since my first SLR ... which was an Olympus OM2S ... and I am having an absolute ball with it underwater.
