The ultimate monitor... Brightside DR37-P

  1. It's a 2 years old design, only 37" across and ONLY uses LED backlighting. But this Brightside (now Dolby owned) DR37-P monitor has 200,000:1 contrast ratio, over 3000 cd/m2 brightness and 0.015 cd/m2 blacks. The gamut is supposedly in the over 110% NTSC and Adobe RGB. And I just saw it today... and it's about as lifelike as it gets. It's ridiculously good. Oh and it's ONLY custom made and my friend won't say how much he paid for it. But a google search claims about $50k.

Now this is unrequited gear lust.

  2. Shooot....I just bought my Eizo. I think I'll wait till I buy Paul Allen's boat, then get a couple of those. :D

Probably in 10 years they'll be at Circuit City.

  3. Drew - you need to take pictures of these things and post them here!

I saw something about this monitor on Engadget or Gizmodo's CES coverage today...

  4. Do they make an underwater enclosure for this monitor. I would be an awesome addition to my u/w shooting set up. Imagine shooting macro where the subject is 1/2 meter tall in your view monitor :D
