White Sharks and other BIG Fish.

  1. Working with some great people here in south Africa at the mo. Some of you may have heard of Mark Addison from the Durban area. Anyway Mark has been looking at a region of south Africa where at this time of year there is a very strong chance to swim with and film / photograph Great White Sharks without the restrictions of cages.

Be warned the two available trips with four vacant spaces in February and three spaces in March are not for the faint hearted. No pampering here unless of course its to your camera. For those worried about breaking fingernails, speeding for 80km to and from a dive site in heavy seas in a Rubber Inflatable then this is probably not for you.

If you do have the right attitude then the following info outlines the costs etc for this amazing trip. There are NO OTHER OPERATORS offering this so expect to be alone out there with a few spear fishermen in the area.

    Trip 1

Get your butts on a plane to land in Cape Town February 16th - ONLY FOUR PLACES REMAIN

Transport to and from location charged at ZAR300 per person per trip

    Diving Days: February 17th - 21st Inclusive.

Cost: ZAR2000 per person per day.

One dive per day due to the distances to travel BUT expect every chance to jump in with whatever comes along outside of the dive time.

    Departure Date: February 22nd

    Trip 2

Arrive Cape Town March 17th - ONLY THREE SPACES REMAIN

    Dive Days: 18th - 22nd Inclusive

Cost: ZAR2000 per person per day.

One dive per day due to the distances to travel BUT expect every chance to jump in with whatever comes along outside of the dive time.

    Departure Date: March 23rd.

Accommodation can be arranged where all divers stay in one house which is being rented anyway at a rate of ZAR350 per person per day. Other options are available depending on one's budget.

For more info I suggest you contact either Mark or Gail Addison at Blue Wilderness: info@bluewilderness.co.za

The diving takes place on a shoal, a shallowish volcanic rock system. Apart from the Whites the following have been encountered: Mako, Raggies, Bull, Blacktip, Dusky and Copper Sharks. Its a shark lovers dream.

I will not be on the trip seeing as I am working on a different project with Tiger Sharks at Aliwal Shoals. Knowing Mark and Gail though anyone attending this trip will be met by two incredibly enthusiastic and welcoming people. Great hospitality and great service.

    Cheers all,

    Mark.
