  1. I'm down in Antigua with my family for a vacation and I'm diving every morning with my first underwater rig. I've borrowed and rented cameras before, but never with strobes and I never really got a single image I really, really liked.

So I built a rig around my new G9 - which I bought to use primarily on land, but with an eye to taking it diving with me.

I know it ain't Indonesia or the Red Sea, but I'm having a BLAST learning how to shoot underwater. As the week has progressed, I feel my technique and understanding of how to shoot underwater is improving. I like the camera, but I think I'll replace the YS-15 with a YS-110 at some point and get an adapter so I can add a wide converter.

I'd also like to go somewhere REALLY cool in the near future (within the next 12-18 months) and get some instruction from folks who know a thing or two ... any suggestions for land-based courses in exotic locales with lots of cool little critters with good topside attraction for the rest of the family (wife, toddler and soon to be toddler) would be most appreciated. I'm HOOKED.

Please take a look at my blog and let me know what y'all think.

    Thanks!

Great start Jeremy. My condolences on getting HOOKED. Start getting your kids into the water now so they love it. It will help them understand why you didn't have enough money left to pay for college :D

Eric is doing a week long dive shoot out in Bonaire in June you might want to check out. Since your already on Flickr I'd recommend joining the underwater groups and checking out what others are doing to improve. One caution on the Really Cool expectation. To my way of thinking, If there is warm salt water within an hour it's Really Cool!
