  1. I've a read a lot of the tripod threads and really want to try it.

I don't think I'm going to go the DIY way other than having someone tap the hole in the baseplate of my Ike housing.

    I just have 2 questions:

How much use do you get out of one before gets so trashed from the salt that it needs replacement?

Doesn't anyone make a SS, aluminum, or titanium tripod?

It would be worth the extra cost to have it last a lot longer. You could also travel with just one, since it wouldn't get all rusted.

  2. ulcs makes a knuckle to attach 3 of their arms into a tripod. wont get ruined, but expensive. i use a little plastic velbon tripod (DF-10ML) that costs $28 at b&h. had it for 3 yrs and only see a little rust on the metal pins in the legs with good rinsing. it has a quick release meaning you can screw the base plate into your housing and strap the tripod to your bcd to use when you need it. it is very light so i have to strap 3 ankle weights around the legs. works great for me. cheers,

Thanks, I'll have to ad that to my next order.

Also for the price, I've heard the ULCS one is very flimsy.

Are you sure about that model number?

I just got mine yesterday and it has aluminum legs.
