40D Underwater in 10D Housing

  1. Hi Folks,

Here are some shots taken 2 weeks ago in Puerto Galera. All taken using my Bill Reed modified Subal C10 that now takes both 5D & 40D cameras. Sure the rear buttons along the bottom of the LCD don't work (though focus point selection does), but with a big enough CF Card and programming the "Set" button to playback, you've got all you need.

    Blue Ribbon Eel, 40D, Canon EF 28-105 @ 105mm, ISO 400, f13, 1/125th, Dual YS120's on half power.

    Fire Dart Fish, 40D, Canon EF 28-105 @ 105mm, ISO 200, f18, 1/125th, Dual YS120's on half power.

All images above uncropped except for the lobster which is a 50% crop.

Auto Focus using both lenses were lightning fast and spot on if I did my job, I shot the 5D more though, mainly due to laziness in swapping out cameras. But I think this shows that it was well worth the effort.

  2. Nice shots Stu... good to see some 40D u/w pics.

  3. Nice work. Glad you were able to get it to work out for you.
