Ah, calamari

All,

I love these animals, and am struggling to get a good photo. I think I've captured a bit of their surprising intelligence here, but would be interested in comments on technique and post processing. Cropping? Saturation? Funky black water?

I like the crop and can imagine this as a nice custom (non-standard proportions) framed print. However the image looks a little underexposed to me, they do not pop enough against the background. I'm not sure whether your original image has the information or not, but possibly playing with curves to improve the contrast, bring out more shadow detail may be helpful.

This is just a quick curves adjustment I did. Probably if you spend the time you can do better.
