A few from Bonaire

5 posts
  1. I just got back from a week at Capt. Don's Habitat on Bonaire. It was kind of frustrating at the begining of the week, I was constantly equipped with the wrong lens. By the end of the week I was working better with DM's to find the right subjects and I did shore dives to relocate some of the subjects I had seen but not photographed on previous dives.

Bonaire is a great place to dive and they have done a good job at managing the resource. The only negative I saw was the vast number of divers. Almost all of the popular shore diving sites had many divers present. If you want to have a dive site to yourself you have to seek out the more obscure and difficult to get to spots - there are still some. I just hope that we're not loving Bonaire to death.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.

  2. I tried my hand at super macro for the first time with a 2x teleconverter and 105 macro. I only tried it on one dive but I gained a real appreciation for the difficulty involved. I didn't have the right gears or a teleconverter that allowed autofocus so basically I had my 105 locked a full magnification. It was a challenge just to locate the darn subject. Here's one that was actually somewhat in focus.

  3. beautiful shots, love the colors

  4. Nice.

The Blue Tang merry go round put a smile on my face :)

  5. Yep, I have yelled the odd explitive while using the 2xtc 100mm combination. It is a bugger but the results are pretty cool. The detail on some of the small fish in terms of scales etc makes it look almost over worked in PS when it is pretty much as it sits just high magnification.

I head back to Bonaire in May.

    Nice work!
