Another Sea & Sea YS-110 Question...

4 posts
  1. Hi all,

Trying to help out a friend.

I read the threads on the YS-110 but couldn't really find the answer.

Camera is Panasonic (sorry, no further specification), no manual settings possible.

TTL seems to work flawlessly on land (as tested afterwards), however when he takes his camera + strobe underwater (fiber optic cable) the pictures are incorrectly exposed (mostly overexposed) (non-wide angle pics).

I've read that others have experienced incorrect exposure underwater too (not specificied if TTL on land worked).

So, has anyone experienced the same problem?

Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong? (problem with fiber optic cable connection: air, dirt,...?)

    Thanks alot in advance.

    Best regards,

    Bartus

  2. Bartus,

I too have been having problems with the TTL on the YS-110 (see my post in Consumer Digicams/Housings under the thread "DX-1G TTL strobe control, Does it exist?") I also did some tests topside and had the same inconsistent results. I am awaiting word back from Sea&Sea, as they requested I send my strobe back to them.

    Hi Kathy,

Well, the funny thing is that he gets correct results using it topside, but not underwater.

But would definitely be interesting to hear what Sea & Sea has to say bout it.

    Regards,

  4. Just a guess, FWIW;

If he's shooting in auto modes, the camera itself may be adjusting the shutter/aperture much more open for the low light found underwater. If he can switch to aperature or shutter priority and try getting some mid range settings it may improve.

    As I said, a guess.
