Playing back DV tapes

4 posts
  1. I have a Sony TRV 900 video camera, I just got it back from the repair shop, they had to put a new drum and heads on $ 300.00. I was told to go out and buy a cheap video camera for playback when I edit the tapes. My question is, since the TVR 900 is a 3 ccd camera, and a cheep video camera isnt, will I loose video quality,or is the quality already on the tape from the TRV900 and playing it back in a non 3ccd camera wouldnt efect quality, I was told i wouldnt, I need to know for sure so thats why I am asking the experts on this forum.

    Thanks

  2. Because the data stored on your tapes is digital in nature, even the cheapest DV camcorder will allow you to capture your source footage via firewire without any loss of quality.
