I'm having trouble removing an Ikelite port body from the dome. Can anyone recommend a tool to help loosen the thread?
I vaguely remember discussion about some kind of wrench/spanner (an oil filter or strap wrench perhaps?) but have had no luck searching through old posts.
Any advice will be gratefully received.
Cheers
Matt
Which one you need to unscrew? I have different techniques for different bodies...
For ultrawide (weitwinkel) bodies I use a pipe wrench, open big and place it on the cut outs then unscrew it.
For medium and extended bodies I use a regular Oil filter removal tool and a towel. Cover the body with the towel to create some grip and then unscrew it.
There are some Oil Filter removal rubber tools that works fine too and are better to travel.
I use a tool like the one you can see here on ebay. It has never let me down! B)
If you have any clamps for wood working, I use the ones with soft plastic grips, they will adjust to the slot areas on the port body. Then you'll have some decent leverage to remove the port body.

LyN's tool is called a strap wrench.
Purchase it at an automobile parts store of a mojor hareware store.
Thanks for the replies guys. I have bought a strap wrench and it does a great job.
