  1. Hi,

I read the beautiful post of Carol about the Manatees and since I am just back I just wanted to post a few of my images.

I love the mirroring on the surface

  2. Fun pics; the guy must be Canadian or something with no wetsuit.

    Nice shot indeed Rob.

Very calm and serene :excl: The mellow tones and gentle light I think.

Very envious of all you getting to swim with the manatee :D

  4. The second photo is wonderful :D

  5. Nice images, Rob. Looks like you managed to get much better viz than I go there.

Pity we missed you by a few days.

    Alex

  6. Your friend is meeting with the notorious grabber. The manatee likes to grab and hold on.

  7. Rob, I like your images!

Actually Gary that isn't the case I don't think, but it is a good guess... :D . See this "snorkeler" obviously hasn't read Bob Bonde's book 'The Florida Manatee Biology and Conservation'

...if the snorkeler had read the book he would have perused some of the valuable data including the part where Bob Bonde talks about how the manatee couldn't care less when he wore his yellow/blue swim trunks (I think it was...), but were in high, keen interest when he wore his leaf-green swim trunks! (Thats what I love about the book, it is very scientific in spots and then there is real-world, practical data that anyone can understand!!! And smile a bit at too!).

Anyway the snorkeler's trunks aren't leaf-green but I think they are probably even a more enticing color to a hungry manatee as there isn't much food in the clear water springs and that manatee is just doing what comes natural and checking out those swim trunks!!!! B)
