Ikelite DS125 & DS51

3 posts
  1. I currently use one Ikelite DS125 strobe and was planning to sell this in order to justify getting

    two Ikelite DS51s.

Would it make any sense to keep my current DS125 and just add a DS51? I don't shoot WA so don't necessarily want to invest in a second DS125. Do people ever shoot with two different strobes or is this considered taboo?

Any thoughts about using two different strobes, or, would it make more sense to get rid of the DS125 and only use two DS51s?

  2. I did it, but now I just shoot 2X 125. There are some advantage on 125´s, first you can use the modeling light as nigh lights or focus aid (not recommend it all the time because force you to light the subject on an inner 45° angle most of the time).

If you NEVER going to shoot WA then you probably better with 51´s. Is not a nonsense shoot 125 w/ 51, but again this have sense with close up and WA, if you only do macro, start to loose some of it.

    Hihi

I am only using a compact G9 w one 125.. been getting v poor WA shots.

Macro shots are great save for some where subject is SO hidden that corals or rocks cast shadows.. and deem it imposssible to light!

..... am thinking of getting another 125.... or sell my 125 n get two Z240...

    any tots?.. anyone?..

    Thanxxx
