Has anyone used an Aditech Video Housing?

9 posts
  1. Hiya everyone,

Just wondering if anyone out there has used an Aditech housing or have any views regarding them?

I'm currently using an Ikelite Housing with a Sony HC1, but am finding the viewfinder too small, the mirror hard for composition and the steps you need to go through to manual white balance (which friends have likened to playing table football with chopsicks underwater!!!) a pain in the b*tt. I'm happy with the results I'm getting from the HC1, so was hoping to get another couple of years out of it before upgrading, so thought the Aditech Mangrove housing with its TFT screen and one touch MWB might not be too expensive an option.

Many thanks for your help,

    Hi Roger,

Thanks for that. How's things going with your set-up, have you got any footage to show me, I'd love to see what you've been filming.

    See you next Saturday,

    Jo

  4. A review will be coming up soon on their housing and the wide angle lens, but not before June. Unfortunately I have to get back to real work.

I'll bring you a copy of a short DVD I did from Len's Reef Master trip to St John's and Fury Shoals, it was the first time I had used my set-up. I did a 10-15min film for a Photosub meeting, but we never got to see it

    See you Saturday

    Hi Drew,

Excellent, I look forward to seeing it.

    Many thanks,

  7. Sorry Jo

I haven't seen the housing yet so I can't comment. I didn't know the HC-1 had one touch MWB. That's news as I thought only the HVR-A1 had the assign button.

Oh well, I'll just have to wait for your review then.

I was in London last weekend and the shop I was in had an Aditech housing (unfortunately not the right one for the HC1), I plugged the HC1 in to the LANC socket to see what it could do. It has a MWB button, which seemed to work ( http://www.oceanoptics.co.uk/sonyunderwatervi.html ), so I'm guessing there was some fancy electronics that sorted this out (sorry I'm not very technical). But knowing me, I could be wrong!!!

  9. They may well have figured out the lanc code since it is a 2 year old camera. Who knows?
