Great Storm of 1913 Multimedia

  1. Hi everyone! I finally finished putting together a multimedia piece on the Great Storm of 1913 story that my writing partner and I did for issue 14 of Wreck Diving Magazine. It features an interview with Capt. David G. Brown, author of White Hurricane, as well as some historical photos and photos of our dives on the Wexford, Charles S. Price and Regina in Lower Lake Huron here in the Great Lakes. This is something new I'm trying so any feedback is appreciated. You can find the story and multimedia piece here.

    Thanks for looking,

  2. thanks for posting Andy i will have a look

  3. Nice piece; are these pics mostly with a Magic Filter?

  4. really liked it ! I too would like to be brieved a bit on the phototechnical aspects. It's great that most of them seem to lie so shallow, although the divers in the pictures look like they want to dig deeper :-)

one minor thing: using firefox, the character sizes are off; the menu links were through the text.

Thanks I'll check that. It looked fine on my version of Firefox but that's why I'm a photog and not a web programmer.

On the technical side. I don't use a magic filter. I use a Canon 20D and dual Ike strobes. I shoot RAW and then WB during post processing. Our water color here in the Great Lakes is all over the map, from dark green to blue so WB can be a challenge.

Yes, these wrecks are on the shallow side. Most of my dive buddies and I dive doubles and drysuits for longer or deeper dives or if we're going inside. So we dive doubles 99% of the time. But as seen, many people dive singles. Just have to stay within your training.

    Thanks for looking.

  6. Andy,

Very impressive, I think you have done a fantastic job. The images, the narration, the fascinating history and the music make this a very special AV presentation. Recommend everyone take a look.

    Regards

    Nigel
