  2. Hey a daddy weedie with eggs...cool

    How cold is the water?

Is that squid eggs on the first pic as well.?

  3. Yeah dad with a new clutch of eggs ;) They are pretty protective of them!

& you're right - squid eggs - those eggs were being ?laid by the lower of those squid at the time ... very cool to watch the whole process B)

  4. Beautiful photo of the Weedie ... and a pair to boot!

  5. I agree two lovely photographs.

    So interesting about the squid/eggs.

But the weedy with the eggs is superb, and is that his partner in the background?

Very, very neat! It is spring indeed!

    Thanks so much, Carol

  6. Great finds!

  8. What cool shots! I saw 1 weedy when I was in Sydney in December. What a thrill. He (she) didn't have any eggs though and our vis totally sucked. Alas, no photos from me because I flooded my Oly 7070 the previous week in the Coral Sea (on my first dive of my liveaboard trip, no less) ;)

  9. Great stuff, Leander. Fresh looking eggs too, on the seadragon.

  10. and is that his partner in the background?

Carol, that was the narrative in my head when i was trying to compose a shot with the two ... but i don't think it is :(

Fresh looking eggs too, on the seadragon.

Alex, yes they are a shiny new clutch :)

Some weedy clutches get algae growth on them, however others (most?) will stay clean of algae until they hatch.

NWC, it is breeding time for weedies now, so December would have been too early for eggs. Its great to see them anyway! I remeber my first weedy :(

I'm looking forward to the babies - they are pretty cryptic and its a challenge to find them!

btw wags - its warm - around 20 degrees!!!

its funny that everyone like the weedies ... the squid were my fav capture :)

    and our vis totally sucked

yeah its a pretty pathetic 1 - 5m here at the moment ;)
