TTL OR MANUAL

  1. Witch do you prefer TTL or manual for macro and wide angle???

I found that shooting manual with strobe at full-1/2 power in AV the shutter speed defaults to 1/200 and I only need to be concerned with shutter opening F3.5-36.

I have tried shooting in AV mode with TTL and have never been happy with results, once I set the exposure level the speed of the shutter is to slow resuting in pour quietly.

Has any won elese had the same results with AV mode with TTL???

  2. Indoman,

In Av mode the Rebel XTi will still try and match a shutter speed for what the meter thinks the available light exposure should be. Usually too slow and you get blur. You can even try this with your built in pop up flash in Av mode on the surface. TTL for the exposure still works for the foreground flash lit area.

That's why most shooters shoot in M mode, setting a shutter speed for background water brightness, and f-stop for strobe to subject distance. Plus people still are confused that just because you are in M mode TTL still works and will try and match flash output to your selected f-stop, depending of course how far your subjects is away.

    Hope this helps!
