What's surprising is that the IWC has landlocked countries as members? I mean Malawi,Congo and Laos? So glad those Mekong baleen roaches are so well protected and Lake Malawi whale fly hunting is definitely sustainable. Amazing what politics drives this process. I have to bow my head to the Japanese for trying to stay within the letter of the law while the Norwegians just flat out say screw you, we don't care! I suppose it's cultural.
Btw, we should note that Palau, Micronesia and Vanuatu are among that list. They depend on the tourist trade so we should write in to them to tell them what we think of whaling and how it'll affect our willingness to visit their countries.
