nice case but som things on it its to plastic

what do think PT-E03 VS IKELITE

    thanks kent

  2. It would help if you would just ask one question per sentence.

just very gently grease the orings: the orings only have to shine a little. Definitely do not grease the groove. Too much grease will only attract dirt.

If I understood you correctly, you see the drops when you open the case. the oring is the border between water and air, so the oring will always get wet on one side. It is saver to open a case when you have dried it on the outside.

as for the oring not staying in the groove: sometimes the oring is twisted a bit, you have to make sure it is in a relaxed state before closing.

Double check you have them the right way around. The larger diameter (section) O-ring goes in the door and the smaller diameter O-ring goes in the housing. I've found the easiest way to put them in correctly is to start around the top where the housing curves around the camera flash. This way they won't twist so easily. Be careful not to stretch them and the length of them will be just right to sit in the groove properly. All you need is a shine of grease on the O-ring. The port O-ring should be straight forward so long as you're not twisting the oring.

??? have don all water test when a openen case ther

is som small small water drops on the o-rings ???

If they're on the outer o-ring it's ok. If they are on the inner oring I would suggest the outer o-ring is not seated properly. Once you get it right a couple of times it gets easier. Just take your time to get it right.

    do a

    greass groove to ????

That's a recipe for disaster I think. Make sure it's clean. Spotless. The only possible exception I can think of is on the port O-ring where you should put a LIGHT amount of grease on the metal where it screws in. This way when you screw the port in it will help the O-ring to slide along the metal. But I do mean light!!

Seems solid enough to me. I've never had a problem with mine. I found the viewfinder surprisingly easy to get used to. If you're using the internal flash to fire external TTL strobe/s make sure you tape off the area around the flash. It's surprising the difference it makes. Aside from that anything in particular you want suggestions for?

what do think PT-E03 VS IKELITE

I'm not touching that one!!! :)

    thanks kent

    I hope I've helped,

  4. hi

just to add what greg says

    i haven't had a problem with mine

but for the first time of use i would have a try dive without the camera inside

hang a 1-2 kg lead weight on it and make sure there are no leaks

the housing is really bouyant without the camera inside

i always check dive it if i haven't used it for a while aswell

  5. Hi Kent,

Regarding the water droplets on the o-ring this sounds normal when opening the housing especially if you open the housing with the dome pointed down, which allows water on the outside to run inside. Once you have greased the o-rings and they are forced in place by the water pressure on the housing I would not remove them unless you need to remove dirt or sand. Once in place the O-rings can be lightly greased while they are in place. The port o-ring should be removed and greased each port change.

Also remember that when the camera is installed you need to remove the rubber eye piece and the two triangle shaped clips for the shoulder strap which can push the camera against the rear housing door when it is closed.

I would suggest you test the housing to at least 5 meters before you install the camera.

    Hi Phil

well thats good idea to let orings stay in the groov an then put som grease on it

yea phil have removed the rubber eye piece .

phil haveyou try out athenas fiber optic cabel bracket??? on my old 8080wz was a

using inon but athenas seems to be more usefull to block the cameras internal flash

toghts about it . No way phil a am going in water whit first check my housing befor a

put my camera in to. very thanks phil

    kent

  8. Kent,

I have used both the Athena and Inon fiber optic cable mounting bracket. With the Inon at about one half the price I see no advantage to the Athena unless you need the cold shoe mount which does come with the Inon.

  9. I know the housing for my E-410 didn't inspire a whole lot of confidence. I flooded it in the rinse bucket. It was my error, I left the eyecup on. However even after removing the camera the housing still leaked. The case up around where the pop-up flash goes should have had another latch assy. There was always a slightly larger gap up there even when it was new and now it leaks right there. I've got the housing in for exchange. Phil gave me some good advice which is to buy a back up camera (Olys are cheap enough) and keep it in the housing. I think if I were building from scratch I might have to strongly consider Ikelite. Right now, I own two Inon Z240s which I like so I'd have to dump quite a bit of stuff to move over to ikelite.

I would be careful not to put too much grease on the oring.

"phil have you try out athenas fiber optic cabel bracket???" I have it and like the way it works. Its a little over a hundred bucks from Ryans Reef Photo.

Yes, I own the Athena and it works well but so does the Inon for about half the cost.
