Hubby just left the Virgin Islands and me for a 2 year adventure in PNG... but I'm going to go joing for a month or so this summer. Will do a segment of the time diving off liveaboard and leaning towards booking us onto Rob Van der Loos Chertan in Milne Bay, becasue it sounds very photographer friendly. Anyone has been on Chertan and can provide some feedback, recommendations etc? Would be much appreciated! Any recommendations on Milne Bay in general would be great!

I have not dived off that boat, but have spent a lot of time on the FeBrina and Stardancer working New Ireland and New Britain/Witu Islands. I cannot say enough good things about these operations. They are extremely camera/photographer friendly and they let you design your own dive profiles (if they feel you are up to it). I can't stand having operators oppress your dives with too much babysitting. They have an excellent safety record, too. This area of the Bismark Sea is about the best you can find. I spend about a month a year there and will be returning this winter to do exploratory diving on the south shore of New Britain Island. Who knows what we'll find in that undived wilderness.
Feel free to ask me anything about my experiences in PNG.
