HVR-Z1U? - Also Hi Guys!

Hey Guys, Firstly I want to say hi! Just been sent over from the ScubaBoard, as I was asking about the Sony HVR-Z1U, they said there were some guys here using that camera, could someone link me to them / a thread please? I tried the search a few times but it kept failing.

Ideally I want a camera that records onto solid-state NOT tape, as I think this will soon be redundant, and for the price of the camera, well the obvious concerns arise.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I have since been informed (ok I research quickly;) ), about the Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM - THIS looks like the one I will be hunting now, and it has solid-state recording. I KNOW there's a thread on this site about that one, so will have a look around - hmm, I think I might be able to google it come to think of it. Cheers anyway.

I'd suggest that you post, and frequent, the video sections of the this site. This message in the beginners section will soon get buried.

P.S I use a HVR-Z1U, Gates Housing, SWP44 and Green Force Squid 250's, along wih a whole bunch of other stuff.

Try searching for EX1.

If you're considering the HVR-Z1U, do a search for FX1, it's based on the same camera. My search turned up 11 pages of results.

Thanks guys. I spend ages yesterday reading most of the EX1 thread (posts from last Nov time), am think I'm almost up to speed. Just heading back there now to catch up on the latest news. Also just noticed there was a thread about a new housing so will check that out too.

If anyone reads this reply though, any news/info about the EX1 using CCD ? cheers

EDIT: ok so I found out the CCD info I needed, took me best part of today catching up on all these posts, what a cool site this is! Thanks guys.

PMW700 - seems like the cam that'll do the job, certainly doesn't look as robust as the EX1 however round the lens holding, and I read it'll be £22k approx, that's more than the RED ONE.
