Salt Crystals Inside Port

3 posts
  1. I pulled my camera housing (Ikelite, G9, short port) out today and found some salt crystals had formed inside my Ikelite port. There is an o-ring outside the glass and an o-ring inside and some small crystals have oozed out behind the port. Has anyone else found this?

I removed the port and have soaked it inside and out to dissolve the crystals but I'm worried the port may flood on a trip at the end of the month (and the end of the world).

Thanks in advance. Any input would be very appreciated.

You may want to send it back to Ikelite to have them do a once over, they are pretty good about those things if there is a problem with their stuff. I know for me if I was going on a trip (let alone a special trip) I would have something like that checked out by Ikelite if I could.

  3. The port is enroute to Ikelite this morning. Worst case scenario I won't be able to use my wide angle lens because I still have the stock long port.
