  1. I came across this pic and thought it amazing that this could be done in Photoshop & illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator was used for generating the majority of the basic shapes as well as all the buildings in the Chicago skyline.

The rest was created in Photoshop.

The image size is 40 inches by 120 inches.

The flattened file weighs in at 1.7 Gigabytes.

It took eleven months (close to 2,000 hours) to create.

The painting is comprised of close to fifty individual Photoshop files.

Taking a cumulative total of all the files, the overall image contains over 15,000 layers.

Over 500 alpha channels were used for various effects.

Over 250,000 paths make up the multitude of shapes throughout the scene.

  2. Perhaps you should provide a source, Wags?

  3. you're so funny wags.

If that's true, somebody must love sitting in front of the computer. Maybe they are light or fresh-air sensitive :D

Sure its a big file but a more productive (photographer's) approach might be to shoot it on the Steitz Roundshot or to do one of those 100-image stitches with your 10-22MP dSLR, but that would take a bit longer. :D

And if you really wanted that "drawn" look of the example, run it through a photoshop filter for a few hours.

Seriously though, a fantastic piece of Art .

  4. We already have a thread themed "it must be photoshopped"...I guess it is fitting we have one themed "it must be real"

  5. if this photoshopped and it took a zillion hours, how are the games guys able to produce graphics that are just or almost as nice.....

  6. too much work! easier to just take the picture, but.... it does open some new horizons for adding to a photo.

  7. I've been to a seminar by Bert Monroy and to say that he is maticulous is a way understatement.
