Update on CCD vs CMOS?

3 posts
  1. Just a quickie as I was reading a comparison post from 2004 from the search, and wanted to know if things have changed since then with new technology. I know you get good and bad sensors in each category, but was reading an article on Sony's ClearVID CMOS sensor which reviews just said it was all 'hype'.

I guess it probably comes down to a personal choice and what the individual prefers his footage to look like?

The reviews of the Sony 900 (one that wagsy has) were great, and people kept stating it was due to the CCD setup

Personally I do like vibrant colours, and do like the highest definition I can get, so is there still not so much of a difference? Thanks for any updated info you could provide.

    Alex.

(I don't think I'm able to stretch to the PDW700 before my costa rica trip;) hehe, so think it's best to go for a lower budget option first).

  2. ok thanks - I read that the other day, but as it was all new to me (still is really) was probably confusing myself lol. Just been going over it again, (forgot the thread was so recent), but I think it answers the question - that there'e still no 'leader', and goes on personal preference.

I try and track down footage using different sensors and see if I can see the difference.
