I shot this one yesterday with Courtney - a maternity model who wanted to get some underwater photos. She's only 6 months pregnant, but showing pretty well, and she's a GREAT underwater model
If anyone has seen the book "The Glow" by Danica Perez - this shot was inspired by the cover photo.
Hope you like it,
James
Great idea James - would love to see more!
Aloha
Bryce
Thanks Bryce,
I'll post some more as I get them processed. I shot some against a red satin-looking background, using some special underwater lighting that I think y'all will be interested in.
Cheers
James
Nice James, I have some concern about her left foot though, looks a little weird. One of the things I've come to concentrate more and more on are the models' hand and feet positions, that's why I like dancers if they can do the underwater thing.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the shots, and getting more info on the lights. I tried rented underwater studio video lights last month and was a little disappointed - not enough power. I have a shoot this Thursday.
Thanks Jeff - good feedback,
I see what you mean about her foot - it's curled under her body a bit in this photo. I admit working with models who expect to show up, pay for "a shoot" and then get perfect poses and facial expressions. It is just about impossible. One thing I can think to do would be to hold a break in the middle, review the shots, then try to make improvements.
Fish are certainly easier to photograph :-)
Cheers
James
My wife who was a ballet dancer was the first to point out 'bad' hands and feet to me. Now I can't miss it. I spend some time before the shoot talking to the models about this. Also have to make them aware of the plane of the photograph with our wide angle lenses, and till them to try to keep hands and feet in the same horizontal plane as the rest of their body - if they project towards the camera they look too large, and if they are to far behind, they have a tendency to look like they are disappearing.
