Peter - I'll be going with the Electronic Viewfinder and RED LCD, memory wise I will be shooting with the RED Bricks, or 320GB HDD's. I don't think underwater use and handling, due to the mere environment, will be as problematic, vibration wise, as terrestrial applications.
Lens wise there was a lot of discussions about going with Canon Glass by way of an adapter to be made by a third party. Personally I will be going with PL Mounted Lenses. I have ordered a Peleng 8mm (Russian) extreme Fisheye ($625 as opposed to the Arri 8R which is $30k). Fitted with a PL mount by a guy in California it wil be used sparingly for establishing shots etc. The weird thing about this lens is that it has two Iris rings !! The PL Mount guy makes a bracket that he will also fit to brace those two rings together. Other lenses on order are the RED 18-50mm Zoom and a Tamron f2.8 90mm Macro with PL Mount. The BBC swear by this little guy as a macro lens.
Scott - Get to the back of the line buddy! Long list of people have offered to 'babysit' the beastie until I can pick it up.......hmmmmmm, wonder why that is?
jonny - You know this job does come with drawbacks, but those ain't any of them!! Looking forward to doing it all again. Maybe not in the kind of time frames I done before but on specific trips I guess.
Nick - Still undecided, there are now actually a few oferings available on the market, However seeing as I am moving into a very different realm of cinematography I might be spending the first six months or so without dunking the camera. It will be a steep learning curve to grasp just the basics of 'Deep C' so best I get that through to the gray matter without the added issue of the blue stuff.
Jules - Keep on with those screenplays.
Cheers guys,
Mark.
