Canon G9 / Adobe DNG Converter 4.3.1 / Photoshop CS

  1. I run photoshop CS version 8.0 and a Canon G9.

Wishing to process RAW files, I downloaded the G9 compatible Adobe DNG converter 4.3.1 (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3820) and found that CS would not open the resulting file.

Adobe have advised that the converted file requires CS3 (CS2 is also not compatible). Earlier versions of Adobe DNG converters, which are compatible with CS, cannot process G9 raw files and presumably, other cameras such as:

    Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III

    Canon PowerShot G9

    Nikon D3

    Nikon D300

    Olympus E-3

    Olympus SP-560 UZ

    Panasonic DMC-L10

Does anyone know of a workaround that will not require an upgrade from CS to CS3?

    Thanks in advance, Tim

  2. Yes...you can run their DNG converter by itself and it turns your RAW files into PSD files. Then you can use CS 8 to work with them. The file is a free download from Adobe and its called Adobe DNG Converter

  3. I think I have done what you have described. My point is that the PNG file created by the latest version of DNG converter (required to process RAW files created by the G9) cannot be opened / processed by CS (V 8.0) or CS2.
