You should be able to tape a small bit of the filter to the rear of the lens. Makes sure it doesn't interfere with focusing or the electrical contacts.
Hi guys,
For a lens like a fisheye or an extreme wide-angle lens like a 14mm whose curvature hasn't allowed a front filter mount thread to be incorporated, a gel filter taped to the rear is probably the only real option.
For lenses with a front filter thread, a simple wratten 85 color correcting filter is virtually identical to the "magic filter" and a durable long lasting optical glass wratten 85 (not an 85B) can probably be purchased from most glass filter manufacturers like Tiffen, Hoya and others. This would insure that your filter is held in precisely the perfect alignment to your lens. And maybe even be less expensive.
I recently measured the light passing through two magic filters with a gossen color temperature meter and both produced +115 mireds warming of the light source. If your filter manufactures uses the decamired filter designations rather that the Kodak wratten just get something as close as you can to +115 mirids amber or warming. The "magic filter" also had about 10CC of magenta which would stop a hair more green, but the difference would probably be almost indistinguishable to the eye. And very easy correctable in any program like PhotoShop.
