Dual vs single bulkheads

  1. I have come across where I have to decide between a Sea & Sea and a Aquatica housing for my Nikon D80. Aquatica comes with 2 5pins bulkheads while Sea&Sea only has 1 5pins and 1 2 pins bulkheads. I have 2 Inon Z240 strobes, does anyone know if there is any different/effect if i connect 2 strobes into one bulkhead? Also which housing do you guys recommend because I don't want to switch brand after I buy ports? and I have heard that Sea&Sea TTL converter is broken very easy, have anyone experience in that?

Thank you for every answer guys :)

No significant difference between two bulkheads and dual sync cord as far as manual strobe control. Having two bulkheads gives you a little more redundancy if a sync cord fails - At least one strobe will still fire. You can have the Sea and Sea wired for two normal bulkheads if you don't need the TTL converter option.

  3. If it was my decision, I would buy the S&S in a heartbeat. I would order it with

their i-TTL (Nikon) converter installed and the other bulkhead would be wired

for manual (2 pin). You can then run your two Inon strobes through the converter

bulkhead, using the i-TTL system for macro and CFWA and then if you like, you

can switch to the manual bulkhead to run your strobes for wide angle work.

This of course will require the use of the S&S dual sync cord. There are no

reported problems, that I am aware of, between single cords and dual cords.

If the i-TTL battery goes flat, you can always switch to the manual bulkhead

    and keep shooting.

To pre-empt your next question; yes the Inon strobes do work with the S&S converter...

    All IMHO, of course.
