Tokina 10-17mm in ikelite 6" dome

5 posts
  1. I just bought a d70 setup with a whole bunch of ports. I want to shoot the 10-17 but was wondering if it performed well behind the 6" dome? I have the 8" as well but would not mind selling it if there is no gain in image quality using it. I intend on using the 10-17 and 60mm macro underwater.

What about the 10.5 behind the specific 10.5 6" dome vs behind the 8" as I have both of them as well and would consider the 10.5 fisheye instead of the 10-17.

Then again after seeing the size of the rig I am contemplating a g9.. lol.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

  2. Regarding their 10-17 behind the 6" port, there is a thread on the same issue active in last days.

The 10.5 is acting very well behind the 6" port, I wouldn't get rid of the 8" since it have it's own advantages.

The 10-17 is much more versatile then the 10.5.

  3. Might want to check to insure the 10-17mm can go to 10mm without getting the port shade (with the 6" dome). The Sigma 10-20mm requires removing the port shade at 10mm...one dive trip and I need the scratch repair kit I read about here - Thany you:)

Not a problem with the 8" dome port however - just need an extra piece of luggage for it...

A 10.5mm is a constant temptation for me...another choice would be more usuful...

Rig size...it gets "smaller" in the water:)

  4. Thanks for the info. Being new to the SLR underwater is rough.

I was considering the 10.5 as I am a active "above" water photographer and i think the 10.5 is better above. Also the smaller dome is less daunting..
