The Phoenix 1000 is a 65-meter (213') personal luxury submarine. There's 5000 feet of living space, with huge viewports on the side. It's capable of transoceanic crossings, and when the weather gets rough, the boat can submerge into a perfectly smooth and quiet environment. It even has a diver lock-out chamber, so you can hop out in your scuba gear when you see something cool (a Humpback, White Shark, Giant Squid, or something else). This would definitely be the coolest liveaboard in the world...
Wish I had that 80 million USD right now, wouldn't hesitate a moment to get one and make it the Wetpixel flagship B)

Not a problem, there are about 9,750 Wetpixel members, which means if we each kick in about $8,250 or so (less than the cost of a high end camera rig) we can all share. Or pray like h$%l that someone (preferably me ) hits the biggest Powerball. If I win Vincent, you will get one of the first trips since you were going to be so generous if you had 80 million dollars
Too bad there are no torpedo bays :?))
I am sure Paul Watson wants one for his next Antarctic trip if it had

That is a great idea! We can offer everyone a 'free' trip on the ship (considering that a Galapagos liveaboard is 4900,- USD per week, quite a good deal). We can also put all of our money on El Gordo and buy 40
my maths isn't great if it could take 50 pax that would be 1x one-week trip every 4 years. Sounds like fun. Of course we'd also need to stump-up for running costs and crew... pick me, I can do the washing-up....

Very cool, new there were ideas that can make it reality

Yeah somewhere like that. We should probabloy cut it off though in terms on number of people, thought that the new members at Wetpixel will still have to pay the fee .. well just because.
We just ordered one.

Congrats, in what color?
Blue
I am sure Eric will sign off on it - anyhow since he is on a trip he will never know until the visa account hits
Will my Sony P/S work inside the submarine, or do I need to get an SLR with a rubber ring on the lens and press it against the portal?
I am starting a new business.....pay me $50,000 and I will explain your compatibility issues....
